ROBERT
FRANK
I was born and raised in New York but have traveled widely
around the world. Initially an advertising photographer
in New York City with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from
Rochester Institute of Technology, I changed careers many
years ago. For 28 years I have been a Registered Nurse
and have worked in the operating room for the past 20
years. Maine has been my home for 6 years.
My
interest in nature photography was kindled recently after
a lengthy, life-threatening illness. That gave me the
space and impetus to think deeply about the importance
of beauty in our lives, the natural world and what it
represents. I use digital photography to capture images
of nature, and use the computer to refine them into something
the casual observer might not see. Some of my images are
quite literal representations of what I saw and some are
impressions of how the scene appeared to me. I am especially
inspired by reflections in water and the light and patterns
in what I see.
My
photographs are meant to be beautiful and not remembrances
of any specific time or place other than just Maine at
its best. I hope my viewers will see something that touches
them on some deeper level.
